Play Fireboy and Watergirl 3: Ice Temple, solve frozen puzzles, collect diamonds, use light to melt or freeze paths, and guide both heroes to safety.
Fireboy and Watergirl 3: Ice Temple is the third puzzle-platform adventure in Oslo Albet's elemental series. You guide Fireboy and Watergirl through frozen temple rooms, collect diamonds, activate mechanisms, avoid dangerous pools, and bring both heroes to their matching exits. The Ice Temple adds an important twist to the familiar formula: the two characters behave very differently on frozen surfaces, and some puzzles require you to freeze water or melt ice with colored light beams.
Each level is a cooperative puzzle built for two characters with opposite elemental strengths. Fireboy can move safely through fire but cannot enter water. Watergirl can cross water but must stay away from fire. Dark hazard pools are dangerous to both characters.
The objective is to move the pair through the temple while collecting diamonds and solving whatever blocks the route to their doors. Buttons, levers, light sensors, movable platforms, ice, and changing pools can all become part of the solution.
You can control both heroes yourself or divide the keyboard with another player. Even when playing alone, Fireboy and Watergirl remain separate characters, so a route that works for one may not work for the other.
| Character | Control | Action |
|---|---|---|
| Fireboy | Left / Right Arrow Keys | Move left and right |
| Fireboy | Up Arrow | Jump |
| Watergirl | A / D | Move left and right |
| Watergirl | W | Jump |
The controls make local cooperation straightforward: one player can use the Arrow Keys while another uses A, W, and D. A solo player can operate both control sets and move the characters one at a time when precision is more important than speed.
Frozen surfaces are the defining mechanic of the Ice Temple. Fireboy and Watergirl do not respond to ice in the same way, so you cannot assume that a movement sequence that works for one hero will work for the other.
Fireboy gains speed on ice and can slide farther than expected. This is useful when a puzzle requires momentum, but it also makes stopping at an exact position more difficult.
Fireboy also cannot climb upward along icy slopes in the same way Watergirl can, so some frozen routes naturally favor one character over the other.
Watergirl travels much more slowly across ice, giving her different timing and stopping behavior. She can handle icy slopes that Fireboy cannot climb, which creates sections where the two heroes need separate approaches.
Fireboy and Watergirl cannot perform a normal jump while standing on an icy surface. If you need to reach a higher platform, look for a non-icy launch position, another route, or a mechanism that changes the level.
The Ice Temple lets you change certain parts of the environment instead of simply navigating around them.
This creates different routes for the two characters. Watergirl may be able to cross a pool while it is liquid, but changing that water into ice can make another solution possible for Fireboy or alter how both characters move through the area.
Before activating a light, think about who still needs to cross that section. Changing the environment too early can make a previously useful route harder to use.
Some puzzles require a light beam to reach a sensor before a platform or other mechanism activates. Instead of moving the characters directly toward the exit, you first need to solve the path of the light.
Rotating beams can be adjusted using matching colored levers. Turning a beam changes its direction, allowing you to connect it with a sensor elsewhere in the room.
A useful approach is to work backward from the sensor. Identify where the beam needs to arrive, then determine which lever or rotation can send the light along that path.
Buttons and levers can move platforms and alter passages throughout the Ice Temple. Some pressure buttons remain active only while Fireboy, Watergirl, or an appropriate object stays on them.
This often creates cooperative sequences. One character may need to hold a button while the other rides a platform, crosses a gap, or reaches a second mechanism.
Do not automatically move away after activating a button. First check whether the other character has completed the part of the puzzle that depends on it.
Diamonds give you another reason to explore the complete puzzle rather than taking the shortest possible path to the doors. Fireboy and Watergirl have character-specific colored diamonds, while some stages can also feature white diamonds.
Before completing a level, inspect areas that required separate elemental routes. A diamond may be placed somewhere accessible to only one of the two characters.
The safest approach is to solve collectible routes while the important switches and platforms are still accessible, then organize the final movement toward both exits.
Fireboy slides quickly, so consider where he needs to finish before accelerating across a frozen section. Starting from the wrong position can send him beyond a switch or safe platform.
If a frozen incline appears impossible for Fireboy, check whether Watergirl can handle the route. Their different behavior on ice is often part of the intended solution.
Solo players do not need to control both heroes constantly. Place one character somewhere safe and focus on the other when navigating ice, narrow platforms, or dangerous pools.
Before using red or blue light, inspect the route ahead. Water may provide a path for Watergirl, while frozen water changes the movement possibilities for Fireboy. Choose the environmental state that helps the next part of the puzzle.
If several rotating beams are available, begin at the sensor and determine which direction the final beam must approach from. This is more efficient than rotating every light randomly.
If stepping off a button returns a platform to its original position, leave the first character in place until the second character has completely crossed the affected section.

For the closest alternative, start with Fireboy and Watergirl. If you prefer the platforming side of the Ice Temple, Vex 3 puts more emphasis on movement and hazard timing.
Guide Fireboy and Watergirl through the frozen temple, collect diamonds, solve environmental puzzles, avoid dangerous pools, and bring both heroes to their matching exits.
Fireboy slides quickly across ice, while Watergirl moves much more slowly. Watergirl can handle icy slopes that Fireboy cannot climb, and neither character can jump normally while standing on ice.
Blue light can freeze water into ice, while red light can melt ice and turn it back into water. Changing the surface can create different routes through a puzzle.
Fireboy uses the Arrow Keys, including Up Arrow to jump. Watergirl uses A and D for movement and W to jump.
Oslo Albet developed Fireboy and Watergirl 3: The Ice Temple, the third chapter in the Fireboy and Watergirl puzzle-platform series.
Fireboy and Watergirl 3: Ice Temple makes cooperation more demanding by changing how each hero moves across frozen terrain. Fireboy's fast sliding, Watergirl's slower ice movement, the inability to jump from frozen surfaces, and the freeze-and-melt light system all affect how you plan a route. Study both characters before moving, use light and platforms in the correct order, collect the diamonds, and make sure every solution leaves both Fireboy and Watergirl with a safe path to their exits.
