Zombs.io is a survival base-building game where you gather resources, build walls and towers, generate gold, and defend your stash from zombie waves.
Zombs.io is an online survival and base-building game where you gather wood and stone, construct a Gold Stash, surround it with walls and defensive towers, and survive increasingly dangerous zombie attacks. The world follows a day-and-night cycle: daytime gives you an opportunity to gather resources and improve your defenses, while zombies attack your base after night falls.
The core progression revolves around three resources. Wood and stone support construction and upgrades, while Gold Mines generate gold that can be spent on stronger buildings and equipment. As your base develops, the challenge shifts from simply collecting materials to creating a defensive layout capable of surviving stronger waves.
You begin without a permanent base. Your character carries a pickaxe that can gather resources from objects around the map. Wood and stone give you the materials needed to begin construction.
The major turning point is placing your Gold Stash. The official instructions describe this as establishing your base. Once the stash is placed, nighttime zombie attacks begin targeting your position. That means you should collect resources before committing to a location rather than placing the stash immediately with no defenses prepared.
A functional base usually combines walls, attack towers, and Gold Mines. Walls delay enemies, towers damage incoming zombies, and mines generate the gold needed to improve the stash and other buildings. Stronger waves eventually demand more than a basic ring of structures, so upgrading becomes just as important as constructing new defenses.
Zombs.io combines keyboard movement with mouse-based gathering, attacking, and construction. The official game page documents several shortcuts that become particularly useful once your base contains many buildings.
The Gold Stash determines where your defense is built and is closely tied to progression. Upgrading it enables stronger versions of your towers and walls, giving you access to better defenses as later waves become more dangerous.
Because zombies attack the base after the stash is placed, its location matters. A stash surrounded by enough construction space is easier to protect than one placed against awkward terrain where walls and towers cannot form an effective perimeter.
Do not protect only the stash itself. Gold Mines are part of your economy, so losing them can slow future upgrades even if the central structure survives.
Gold Mines generate the currency needed to improve buildings and purchase equipment. The official instructions specifically recommend building mines alongside towers and walls before the zombie attacks become difficult.
This creates an economy-versus-defense decision. Spending everything on towers may help during the next night but leave your income too low to keep upgrading. Building too many mines without enough protection creates the opposite problem: you generate gold but cannot survive long enough to benefit from it.
Expand the economy when your current defenses are stable, then convert the extra gold into stronger structures before the difficulty increases again.
Walls are more than extra health between zombies and your Gold Stash. They help determine where attackers spend their time and how long defensive towers can fire before enemies reach important structures.
A compact wall layout is often easier to defend than a huge perimeter. Every extra section creates another area that may need upgrading or repairing. Place towers so multiple defenses can cover important approaches rather than spreading them too far apart.
Zombies attack after night begins, turning the quieter resource-gathering phase into base defense. Historical official changelogs show that the game also added stronger zombie tiers and recurring boss waves, including boss encounters at regular wave intervals.
The important preparation happens before the next difficult wave reaches your walls. Repair damaged structures, spend unused gold on meaningful upgrades, and check whether one side of the base consistently takes more damage than the others.
When a section nearly collapses during one night, leaving it unchanged for the next attack usually makes the weakness worse as enemies become stronger.
Your character is not limited to passive building. Gold can be spent through the Shop on better pickaxes and weapons, allowing you to contribute more directly during combat. The Shop is opened with the B key, while Q cycles through equipped weapons.
Better personal equipment is useful when you need to help finish zombies attacking a damaged section or gather materials more efficiently. However, personal weapons should complement a functioning defensive base rather than replace walls and towers completely.
Zombs.io includes a Party system accessible with the P key. Official update notes also document shared-building functionality and party-specific mechanics, confirming that players can cooperate around a common base rather than always playing alone.
When working with other players, dividing responsibilities can make the build cycle more efficient. One player can gather materials while another reinforces defenses or responds to damaged structures. Coordinated spending also helps prevent the base from developing several expensive towers while leaving another essential area weak.
Placing the stash triggers the zombie-defense cycle. Collect a useful supply of wood and stone first so you can immediately surround the new base with basic protection rather than waiting for resources after the attacks have begun.
A smaller base requires fewer walls to protect and makes overlapping tower coverage easier. Expand only when you need additional room for mines, towers, or other structures.
Gold funds building upgrades and Shop purchases. If your base survives comfortably but upgrades arrive too slowly, additional Gold Mine income may solve the problem better than another low-level tower.
Watch where zombies reach your walls most often. Reinforcing that section gives your existing base a better chance of surviving than adding unrelated buildings somewhere enemies rarely attack.
As your defenses grow, manually working through every structure becomes slower. The E shortcut and the Shift or Alt upgrade options can make maintenance more manageable.

Your goal is to gather resources, establish a base with a Gold Stash, build defenses, and survive increasingly difficult zombie waves that attack at night.
Wood and stone are gathered with your pickaxe and used for base construction and upgrades. Gold is generated through Gold Mines and supports further upgrades and Shop purchases.
Zombies attack at night after you establish your base by placing the Gold Stash.
Press B to open the Shop, where gold can be used for equipment such as stronger pickaxes and weapons.
Yes. The official controls include a Party menu opened with P, and official update notes document cooperative party mechanics for shared bases and buildings.
Zombs.io combines resource gathering, base construction, economic management, and wave defense around one repeating cycle. Gather enough wood and stone before activating your base, protect the Gold Stash with a compact network of walls and towers, maintain enough Gold Mines to finance upgrades, and reinforce weak sections before the next night begins. The farther you progress, the more important it becomes to keep your economy and defenses growing together.
